Pelvic Ap Xray
Pelvic AP X-ray
Description:
A Pelvic Anteroposterior (AP) X-ray is a diagnostic imaging test used to visualize the bones of the pelvis, hips, and proximal femurs. It provides a clear frontal view of the pelvic region and is commonly used to detect fractures, dislocations, arthritis, bone tumors, infections, or congenital abnormalities. This test is also helpful in evaluating hip joint alignment and planning orthopedic procedures.
Common Indications:
Suspected pelvic or hip fractures
Persistent hip or groin pain
Osteoarthritis or other degenerative joint diseases
Evaluation of congenital hip dysplasia
Pre- and post-operative orthopedic assessments
Pelvic trauma
Preparation:
No special preparation is usually required. Patients may be asked to remove any metal objects or clothing that could interfere with the image.
Procedure Time:
5–10 minutes
Radiation Exposure:
Low (as per standard diagnostic imaging)
